8th Grade

So far this year, we have studied the theme of identity through the novels Milkweed and The Outsiders. We have learned more about how our country started after the Revolutionary War, all the way through George Washington's noble farewell and the Monroe Doctrine. We have experimented with chemistry and modeled different atoms, plus much more.

Looking forward to the remainder of the year, we have even more to be excited about. The 8th grade students will prepare for their own farewell to The Chatfield School and a new beginning in high school. We will round out our discussion about identity by reading To Kill a Mockingbird. Our studies on United States history will continue, and we will practice citizenship in our community by testing water quality for the Flint River Watershed Coalition and carrying out an Action Project to help protect the watershed.

This is an exciting time in 8th grade, and we are ready. Go Dolphins!
