Outdoor Classrooms Information and Curriculum

Chatfield School was the recipient of a 2-year, 2005-2007, Federal Dissemination Grant awarded by the Michigan Department of Education to work with 4 partner schools to develop outdoor classrooms at their schools. Please hold cursor over picture for the caption.

Partner School Projects

Each partner school implemented many outdoor classroom projects within the 2 year grant period and have continued and expanded these learning opportunities since then.  Most of the activities projects fit into two subject areas, Habitat Restoration and Gardening.  Habitat restoration is part of the Human/Environment content under the Geography strand of Social Studies.  Gardening activities are applicable to outcomes based in the History, Economics, and Civics strands of Social Studies.
