Elementary Music
What an amazing group of students!!!
We have been trying so many different things in every class. Each grade level is being exposed to new music and new ideas in music.
Kindergarten: These students are learning to hear duple rhythms and be able to repeat them back to me. THey are also learning how to sing tonic and dominant notes in any key.
1st Grade: We are starting to indtruduce students to triple and duple rhythms while still building a foundation of the tonic and dominante sounds.
2nd Grade: We should be getting a stronger commmand of the duple and triple rhythms while I introduce the proper solfege. We will also explore other harmonic functions with our voice.
3rd Grade: It has been very exciting to learn the Ukulele with this class. the past few weeks have been focused on learning a few baskic chords. After winter break we will start applying those chords to simple songs. Toward the end of class, we will record our performances.
4th Grade: Recorders have been our focuse for a few weeks now. While we are still learning some basice notes right now, we are anticipating performing songs after Winter Break.
5th Grade: These are my aspiring composers. Right now the students are being challenged to write a short eight measure tune. After we hear them played back on the computer we will experiment around with how to make them even better. I can't wait to hear how they sound.
