Reading

Students read Mitt the Michigan Mouse over the summer.  These are the ideas that we sent home over the summer.

These are a few of their projects.

A Pillow of Michigan                    Tuuli                        A Map of Mitt's Travels

 Writing

We read It Looks Like Spilt Milk.  The students turned a "squiggle" into

something they thought it looked like.  Then they wrote a story about their "squiggle."

This was a great activity at the beginning of the year for the students to show their ability

to produce quality work and a writing sample.

  Social Studies

We read Paddle-to-the-Sea .  Students made canoes to send down the river.

Learning with Maps

How far did each tribe travel to Saginaw to sign the Treaty of Saginaw??

  Science

We are learning about animals in Science.  We have caterpillars and fish in our classroom.

We also learned about bird beaks.  These pictures are from the bird beak experiment.

Students were able to discuss and determine why birds have

different sized beaks.
