Mr. Kurtz

I am very excited to start my second year teaching 7th grade at Chatfield Middle School. A little information about myself includes a bachelors degree from the University of Michigan-Flint with a major in Social Studies and a minor in Science. I was married this past summer and my wife and I love living in Lapeer! Interests include music, snowmobiling, motorcycling, boating and fishing so if you ever want to strike up conversation on any of these topics, I would be pleased. In addition to 7th grade I am teaching an exploration called "Sevice Learning" and "Music Mayhem". I will be running an after school program called "Jam Band". Last year was a great time working with students exploring aspects of classic rock and just "jamming". We are looking for more students so if you are a middle school student at Chatfield and play the guitar, drums, or any instrument that you would like to use, please let me know. As a summer project we entered a float in the Lapeer Days Parade and did a fantastic job playing to the crowd. The students really had a great time and look forward to next years entry for the parade.
If you ever need to contact me for any reason concerning your child or the classroom feel free to email: rkurtz@chatfield.spfs.k12.mi.us or call (810) 538-1730.
